Workation in progress - Home Office in the Camper
For you, work means sitting in an office in front of a computer all day? Not with us!
Because the world of work is changing: away from the classic 9-to-5 office job and towards more freedom, mobile working and working from home. Workation is another such new phenomenon: a combination of the two words 'work' and 'vacation', it combines exactly that - work and holiday.
The campervan in particular is becoming increasingly popular as an office on four wheels. If you too would like to do your daily work with your toes in the sand, the sound of the waves in your ears and the sun on your face, here are a few tips to make your workation an enrichment to your working life.
The right vehicle
More and more manufacturers of campers, motorhomes and caravans are adapting their vehicles to the increasingly flexible working structures and working on the move, thus combining freedom and flexibility with everyday working life. The ideal vehicle for a workstation should provide sufficient space, light and windows - not forgetting power sockets within easy reach of the workstation. Have a look at our camper models and choose the option that best meets your needs.
- Work device (laptop, tablet, ...) and charging cable
- Headset or headphones
- Power bank, spare battery or batteries
- Possibly your own portable router for a stable internet connection
- Foldable, mobile desk
- Desk organiser, filing systems, office supplies (notepad and pens)
- Ergonomic workplace equipment: ergonomic mouse, special orthopaedic cushions and height-adjustable laptop stand
Campsites are also increasingly specialising in working holidays by setting up offices and coworking spaces and equipping them with monitors, printers and other equipment. Campsites are also generally improving their infrastructure and expanding their on-site services with Wi-Fi and a good power supply. When choosing your itinerary and pitches - and even if you are travelling self-sufficiently - a stable Wi-Fi and power connection should of course be guaranteed for a smooth, successful day in the office on four wheels.
As the boundaries between work and private life or holiday enjoyment can quickly become blurred, especially when working from home and on the move, it is very important to stick to a self-defined schedule and define specific tasks and to-dos in advance. The best way to do this is either with digital planning tools or an analogue diary. Routines, breaks and clearly defined boundaries between work and leisure time also enable a productive and distraction-free working day.
